What is Flare?
Flare is a mobile app that lets you get quick feedback on ideas from fellow entrepreneurs, experts, potential customers and investors.
Is Flare available on Android?
Yes, Flare is currently available on Android and the iPhone.
Can I post an idea?
Absolutely! You can post an idea every 24 hours. Post as many ideas as you like.
What type of ideas can I post?
You can post an idea that just popped into your head or ideas that you have been thinking about for a long time. The best way to know if an idea is worth pursuing is to get feedback as early and as often as you can. Even if you’re unsure about the idea, just throw it out there, you never know who might love it.
Do I need to pay to post an idea or see ideas?
Nope, it’s free. It is a community where people can post ideas to get and give feedback.
Do I need a GoDaddy account to use Flare?
No. You can start using the app without creating an account. At some point, you will be required to sign in with Facebook, so that the people you are communicating with can get to know you. We won't post anything on Facebook on your behalf or send messages to your Facebook contacts. We use Facebook only to verify your identity.
How can I prevent others from stealing my idea after I post it?
"Ideas are cheap, execution is everything" goes the famous quote by one of the most successful investors of our time, Chris Sacca (Uber, Twitter, Instagram, etc.). In some cases, you may want to consider not sharing some technical details right away or filing a provisional patent to secure patent-pending status. Even then two ideas may sound very similar or start out with a similar purpose, but their paths can diverge significantly as they grow and become very different. In most cases, you—the entrepreneur—are the secret sauce to making an idea successful.
What happens after I post an idea?
You will be able to share the idea on social networks, via email or text—this way your friends and your friends' friends can review and give initial feedback on whether they love the idea or not. The idea will also be shared in the feed so members of the Flare community can see and rate it.
What happens to my idea after 24 hours?
If your idea gets fewer than 10 followers, it will become inactive and visible only to you in your “My Ideas” tab. If it gets 10 or more followers, it becomes active: you’ll be able to see who the followers are and ask them questions to get more feedback.
My idea is popular, what now?
Once your idea is popular, you can ask quick yes / no questions to decide where you want to take your idea. Ask as many questions, as often as you’d like. Think about questions that you would need answered before you decide to invest a lot of time and energy into an idea and ask your followers these questions. Remember, these are people who love your idea and want to help you bring it to life. Make use of their help!
How do I communicate with users in the app?
If you have a following for your idea, you can post an update to broadcast messages to your supporters or you can send private messages to a specific person. If you loved an idea, you can post a message that will be broadcasted to everyone following the idea or send a private message to the entrepreneur.
How do private messages work?
When you send someone a private message, that person will receive an email from you, but your email address will be obscured. If that person replies, you will receive an email and the sender's email will also be obscured. We obscure all email addresses to protect our users' privacy.
How do I keep other users from contact me?
In your Profile tab, you can switch the Messaging setting to OFF.
I don't see an option to send a private message?
As an entrepreneur, you can send private messages to all your supporters. If you don't see that option, then that person has disallowed private messages. As a supporter of an idea, you can only send private messages to the entrepreneur, not other supporters. If you don't see that option for the entrepreneur, then the entrepreneur has turned it off.
